In Africa, besides exploration and production and renewable energies, Total is active across the whole petroleum product supply chain (service station network, general trade, lubricants, aviation fuels, bitumen, LPG) in more than 40 countries, where the Group is the sector leader with an estimated 18% market share. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of SOW, and initial technical PQ and HSE evaluations of bidders during the call for tender process.
- Evaluate Civil Works contractors through SQM, and ensure that all Logistics operations are done and comply with the contract.
- Supervising, assigning responsibilities, managing, and executing civil or construction-related activities in accordance with the contract terms & conditions or other related reference areas such as HSE, cost, quality, and time are the main qualifying areas.
- Addressing all technical matters and where the competence is lacking then efforts are applied to source the right competence.
- Ensuring that HSE performance & qualifications related to our activities are not compromised more so the HSE Golden Rules.
- Project fiscal activities including budgeting, reporting, and auditing. Minimizing cost and avoiding overruns & expenditures.
- Review and answer Design and Construction Contractor queries.
- Attend site works realization and review contractor deliverables from the progress/realization and civil engineering standpoint of view.
- Provide Civil Engineering Supervision with technical support in reviewing Construction Engineering.
- Deliverables and in-field surveys and in-field engineering coordination with Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure that Civil and Structural activities in the field are done as per the technical requirements and with acceptable quality.
- Ensure that the civil works activities are performed in full compliance with company policies, rules, General Specifications, Scope of Works, terms and conditions of the signed contract(s), and National regulations.
- Provide technical assistance to the Project team/ internal teams and ensure that the Project documentation reflects the challenges already identified.
- Prepare the technical planning programs using Primavera or MS Project, quality and cost control templates, and implementation of construction management tools,
- Review of drawings and evaluation of BOQs prepared by consultant and contractor.
- Prepare for the set-up and mobilization of the Company's civil works operations programs.
- Review and answer Design and Construction Contractor queries.
- Follow up on Inspections and Tests carried out by Suppliers and Contractors for Civil and Structural Scope.
- Review & approve civil and structural works on site (technical acceptance).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Civil /Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8/10 years' experience in Civil Engineering of Building and Civil/ Structural.
- An analytical mind a holistic approach, tenacity, and ability to demonstrate good leadership within a team to produce a safe, efficient well-run-through operation.
- Ability to adapt, analyze problems, and communicate with many entities.
- Knowledge/ understanding of current legislation pertaining to Environmental Protection, Health and Safety at Work, and Waste Management.
- Ability to work on own initiative, remain self-confident and solid under pressure, demonstrate logical thought patterns, high degree of organizational ability, and be an effective communicator at all levels.
- Confident user of AutoCAD, MS Office products, and OS Windows.
- Self-motivated, autonomous, and proactive in carrying out the activities of the job.
- Always adheres to the values and principles of the Company. Ability to work under pressure and stressful conditions, ability to adapt, analyze problems, and communicate with all entities, analytical mind, rigorous, holistic approach, and tenacity. Able to write Standing Instructions and Procedures.
- Active team player with the ability to manage and integrate with others in different functions and environments.
