BACKGROUND
Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an International independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from health care. MSF offers assistance to people based on need irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

MSF is looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position below ;

Job: Clinical Psychologist
Duty station: Kasese

Contract duration: Open-term with a 3-month probations period


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking the lead in clinical case management of patients seeking mental health care at Kasese Adolescent Center, who may include adolescents from rural settings, out-of-school adolescents, orphans, and street children, adolescents living with disabilities, survivors of sexual violence, adolescents living with chronic illnesses, alcohol and substance abuse and addiction, and adolescents dealing with early and often unplanned pregnancies among other vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with the MH Prescriber to administer treatment where psychotropic treatment is indicated.
  • Offer psychotherapy to patients identified with mental conditions
  • Together with the Psychological Counselor / Community MH Educator and Data Supervisor, maintain and regularly update the MH database
  • Identify mental health care gaps, and training needs within the MH team and propose appropriate capacity-building activities. 
  • Submit periodic reports that include monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the MH activities. 
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions on adolescent issues for better management and outcome 
  • Together with Psychological Counselor / Community MH Educator, and Health Promotion and Community Engagement team, draft appropriate community sensitization messages and health awareness talks.

Education: -Essential Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology

Experience:
-2 years’  minimum as a psychologist and at least 1 year of which as a Clinical Psychologist  
-Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries and working with Children, Adolescents, youths, and Families

*English and desirable local language -Lukonzo/Rutoro/Runyankore
