About the Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment Project.

Heifer International in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, and four local partner organizations is implementing the Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment - SAYE project in Busoga subregion from 2023 -2029. The project targets 11 selected districts in Busoga sub-region, Eastern Uganda: Jinja, Mayuge, Iganga, Kamuli, Kaliro, Namutumba, Bugweri, Luka, Buyende, Bugiri, Namayingo. The goal of the SAYE Project is to improve the socio-economic wellbeing and resilience of young people in Busoga sub-region by 2029. The project targets to reach 250,000 young people between 16-35 years (70% females, 3% youth with disabilities). The project will further the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works Strategy (2018- 2030) by addressing employment challenges in Busoga sub-region. SAYE will take two pathways towards job creation; the agri-hub development and MSME promotion to deliver three major outcomes:
1) Increased access to and utilization of market relevant skills among youth;
2) Increased growth of youth-led agriculture and service-based enterprises; and
3) Increased participation of youth in decision making, resource allocation, and utilization. To deliver on this goal, Heifer Project International- Uganda is currently seeking to fill the below vacant positions to support on project implementation.

Position Title: Finance Manager
Reports to: Project Director
Location: Jinja, Uganda
Travel Required: 50% Annually


Function:
The Finance manager-Strengthening Agribusiness for Youth Employment will maintain the SAYE grants Portfolio. Under the guidance of the Project Director and with a functional reporting to the Director Finance and Administration, this position will work closely with in country, regional and HPI headquarters (HQ) finance team to maintain financial integrity and ensure sound financial management of the project. She/ He will develop and/or implement procedures which promote financial discipline to meet project and organizational goals as well as maintaining strong financial controls as they relate to the project. She/ He will coordinate the timely submission of project budgets, financial projections, reporting, and will serve as the primary point of contact in project financial planning and budgeting. This position will also provide support in the processes of accounting transactions, cash flow, banking, grant management, Risk management and compliance with HPI/ Mastercard Foundation policies and procedures.
