Our client, a reputable company in Uganda is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, results-driven, and qualified professional to fill the position of General Manager. The role holder is expected to be a strong, visionary, and exceptional leader able to set company strategy, provide strategic and operational leadership to both business operations and support functions, champion business growth, and manage the Company’s operations.

The General Manager will lead the transformation of the company to profitability, ensure effective management of risk and compliance, enable effective relationships with regulators and shareholders, and report to the Board of Directors on all necessary matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic and operational leadership in all areas of the Business.
• Drive the company to reach its strategic aspirations.
• Set long-term and short-term business goals and oversee the implementation.
• Responsible for the company strategy on legal matters.
• Deliver effective people processes including talent management, succession planning, performance management, and reward.
• Set standards for effective efficiency, driving revenue growth and cost management.
• Responsible for the Company’s annual budget including any capex.
• Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Board concerning all relevant company matters.
• Effective risk management and compliance.
• Relationship management with regulators, shareholders, and other company stakeholders.
• Build company image through the development of relevant relationships.
• Provide regular reports as required by regulators and other stakeholders.

 

Education and Training:
• Bachelor of Law Degree from a recognized institution and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or any other relevant field.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice
• A Master’s degree in Law is an added advantage.


Skills and Experience:
• At least 10 years of working experience in Business Development with at least eight (8) years in a legal and banking environment, with 5 years in Executive Management.
• Banking, legal, commercial, and corporate governance laws.
• Strategic Planning and Investments
• High level of numeracy and financial analysis
• Exceptional Leadership skills with the ability to set goals and cultivate a high-performance culture
• High integrity
• Strong character
• Ability to work under pressure
