Enabel with funding from the Embassy of Ireland is implementing a project called “Support to Skilling Uganda” in Karamoja region. The initiative aims to increase the employability of Karamojong youth, women, and girls through better of skills development and by making it more responsive to the needs of the labour market.
Under the project, Enabel will support the placement of 100 recent vocational education graduates in jobs through the First Employment Facility (FEF). The FEF targets the sectors of construction, agriculture and tourism and hospitality. The objective of the placements is to ease the transition of graduates into the world of work. It will also enable companies to easily find and recruit qualified workers.
Enabel will facilitate the placements through;
• Matching/recruitment support
• Provision of monthly compensation package covering graduates’ insurance, transport, and meals.
• Supporting orientation of company supervisors.
• Provision of work-readiness training for recruited graduates.
Enabel is currently looking for companies/employers (from mentioned sectors) operating in Karamoja and beyond (e.g., Mbale, Soroti, Lira etc.) in need of skilled youth to fill current or future entry-level vacancies and are interested to participate in the job placement scheme.
