BACKGROUND: The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Uganda's apex body for the private sector is collaborating with the Mastercard Foundation's Young Africa Works in Uganda to implement the Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth Employment Project  The Intervention's ultimate goal is to create dignified and fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting Ugandans out of poverty.  The intervention focuses on creating, maintaining, and sustaining growth in job markets through strengthening the capacity of actors to efficiently produce and sell their goods and services in expanded markets, developing new diversified financing mechanisms as well as growing the capacity of business leaders and their support service providers to manage and expand their enterprises. This transformative intervention will also transition Micro Enterprises into Small Enterprises.  

PSFU is looking to recruit a capable, experienced, and passionate Ugandan for the position of Investment Specialist - Gender. 

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION  

Under the overall responsibility and technical supervision, the Project Director, the Investment Specialist/Gender (IS/Gender) will be responsible for planning and delivering all the gender-related activities under the project. He/she will serve as the technical lead, tasked with identifying gender­based constraints facing young women and men in the project intervention areas and steering project activities to directly address these issues. The IS/ Gender will take responsibility for advocating for greater attention to gender perspectives, and for providing the necessary technical support to ensure gender integration throughout the project.

DURATION, LOCATION, AND NATURE OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment will be for an initial three (3) years in the Project Unit renewable for a possible 2 further years subject to a six months' probation and performance.  

The Investment Specialist- Gender will work from the Project Unit in Kampala, but will be required to travel throughout the country in accordance with approved work plans and programmes
