Faculty of Business Administration and Management (Department of Finance and Accounting)
Position: Professor in Finance and Accounting (1 vacancy)

Academic Qualifications and Experience
• The candidate should have a PhD or equivalent in Finance or Accountancy from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• S/he should have a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management or any other related discipline from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
• S/he should have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce /Business Administration and Management / Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting or any other related discipline from a recognized Institution of higher learning.

Requirements for Associate Professor
Academic Qualifications and Experience:

Position: Estates Manager (1 Vacancy)

Academic Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• The applicant should be a registered engineer with the Engineers’ Registration Board of Uganda or the Architects Registration Board and a member of the Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers.
• The candidate should have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in building construction and maintenance of physical infrastructure or in a similar role at a medium to large organization.
Personal Competencies:
• The applicant should possess strong strategic and operational leadership, interpersonal as well as good communication skills, Excellent relationship management, Sound knowledge in project management, strategic planning and budgeting, a high level of maturity and integrity, results-oriented, good report writing Skills, computer literacy, with experience in the use of relevant packages. Accountability Profile:
(a). Maintain all buildings, furniture/fixtures on campus regularly.
(b). Maintain the water system, gas and electricity installations.
(c). Make sure compost pits are clean and well-kept and that all garbage is
collected from the compound and staff quarters.
(d). In close collaboration with any given contracted cleaning company, he/
she shall see to it that the compound and all public premises of UMU,
including offices, classrooms, halls of residence, Guest House, Dining
Hall and all staff compounds are cleaned and maintained.
(e). Liaise with the Campus Warden and the Assistant Registrar for Student
Affairs as
needed.
(f). Maintain all movable and immovable university vehicles and machinery
in collaboration with any contracted mechanical, civil or electrical
engineering company.
ICT Department
Position: Systems Administrator / Webmaster (01 Vacancy)
Duty Station: UMU, Nkozi
Reports to: Head ICT
Purpose of the job:
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the confi guration, implementation, and maintenance of the various ICT systems and software technologies at all campuses of UMU. The incumbent will administer and maintain all technology applications infrastructure including the overall server management, software applications, troubleshooting, storage/fi le management, all network resources administration, email administration, and regular backups.
The Systems Administrator will assist in assessing and identifying all appropriate software and hardware applications to be integrated into UMU’s infrastructure and make recommendations for implementation.
Academic Qualifications and experience:
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• Professional certifi cations in MCSE, CCNA will be an added advantage.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in managing websites in Public relations or in communication related environment.
• Good knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP networking is an added advantage
• Must have good knowledge of Virtualization
• Experience in setting up and administering a wide range of Information Systems, preferably in Finance and Education environments
• Experience and good understanding of Open-source applications
• Good knowledge and understanding of both Windows and Linux Server administration • Knowledge of VoIP functionality is an added advantage
Accountability Profile:
• Administer UMU’s Active Directory
• Maintain network servers such as application servers, file servers, VPN gateways, and intrusion detection systems.
• Administer the university’s mail server
• Maintenance of IP services like DNS, Web servers, Internet Gateways
• Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
• Ensure that the design of all systems allows all components to work properly together.
• Ensure efficiency and availability of all Management Information Systems.
• Maintain network and system security as well as perform security updates and patches.
• Explore possibilities of new cost effective and/or open-source technologies based on Linux/UNIX
• Perform regular and scheduled back-up for the various pieces of data and systems as well as perform dummy recoveries of data and systems to ensure their integrity.

Position: ICT Lab Attendant (Vacancy 1)
Reports to: Head ICT
Duty Station: UMU Nkozi and Ngetta Campuses
Job Purpose:
The ICT Lab Attendant will take proper care and stewardship of designated
ICT lab facilities (computers, projectors, smart boards etc.) especially at
locations that are distant from the central ICT offi ce. The lab attendants
will be responsible for providing support to students and other users of the
designated ICT labs. The role of lab attendants is essential for preventing
theft or misuse, better availability, security, reliable operation and optimal
use of lab facilities.
Academic Qualifi cations and experience
• Should have at least a Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized institution of learning.
• At least one year’s experience working in a reputable organization.
• Ability to quickly learn other software used for teaching such as accounting software, video editing software e.t.c
• Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Should be able to work beyond conventional working hours and on weekends.
Accountability Profile:
• To provide operational and technical support for ICT lab facilities.
• Under the supervision of the Network Administrator (and sometimes Systems Administrator), install equipment & software required in the IT labs.
• To arrange for the required servicing and repair of ICT Lab equipment.
• To perform routine audits on systems and software.
• To answer user queries relating to use of the ICT Lab.
• To document the confi guration of lab equipment and any changes.
• To ensure optimum operation of the ICT Lab facilities.
• To ensure the effi cient fl ow of information between the Lab owner department and ICT technical team leaders.
