PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a social enterprise with a mission to ‘expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education across Africa’. PEAS establishes and operates affordable secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to cost and geographical barriers. PEAS launched an ambitious strategy in 2021, aimed at expanding Access to Quality Education, ensuring schools are Sustainable, and investing in systems strengthening. With over 30 secondary schools in Uganda educating over 16,000 students, 58 staff at the Country Office, and 1,000 staff working in the network schools, PEAS intends to expand its geographical coverage and impact. PEAS Uganda is seeking to fill the following vacancy:
Job Title: People & Culture Manager
Reporting to: Country Director
Location: Country Office- Kampala
Job Summary: The role will aim to achieve operational excellence in People and Culture at both office and school level ensuring that we are attracting, recruiting, selecting, and retaining the best people and supporting them to deliver exceptional services to the young people we serve. You will be part of a global People and Culture group that includes a People and Culture lead in the UK and an HR officer in Zambia. As a group, you will work collaboratively on People and Culture initiatives that can be adopted and adapted in all offices.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Required Qualifications and Experience
A minimum University degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development and post-graduate training in Human Resources. Substantive experience (at least 6 years) in Human Resources, with at least two years of working at strategic leadership level. Detailed up-to-date knowledge of Uganda’s employment law. Strong level of IT literacy including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Cloud Software such as HRIS, and the internet. Experience and knowledge of strategic workforce planning. Experience, knowledge, and passion for People and Culture systems and processes design and improvement to deliver results.
