Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body Corporate established by the URC Act, Cap.331 laws of Uganda. The mandate of the Corporation is to construct, operate and maintain Railway, Marine and Road services, both inside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. 

URC invites suitable and qualified Ugandans to apply and fill the following position

PRINCIPAL PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POSITION)

Job Purpose:  
Planning, coordinating, management and provision of technical guidance on procurement and disposal activities of the Corporation to ensure value for money. 

Qualifications:

• Must have a Honors Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics (with a bias in Procurement and Supplies Chain Management) from a recognised University, Plus Full Professional Qualification in Supply Chain Management.  
• Must be a member of a recognised professional body in Supply Chain Management and the Institute of Procurement Professionals of Uganda (IPPU).
• Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration or management discipline is an added advantage. 

Experience and Competencies:

• At least Six (6) years of practical experience, three (3) of which should be at a senior procurement level in a Public or Reputable organisation.  Must have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel PowerPoint and procurement management software.  Relevant Experience in donor-funded projects is an added advantage.  Must have well-developed analytical and reporting skills  Ability to cultivate team spirit in a specialised unit, and lead and motivate qualified and specialised staff is essential. 
• Good understanding of the PPDA Act & Regulations and International  Procurement Standards & Regulations. Ethics and integrity, communication and time management.
