Who We Are
Tunga Nutrition Uganda Limited is a joint venture business of Nutreco BV and Unga Group Plc. Established in March 2022, the business distributes animal nutritional products from the parent companies and is currently building a state-of-the art animal feed and concentrate production facility at Plot M229, factory close in the Ntinda Industrial area of Kampala, that is due to start operations in Quarter 3 of 2023. The feed production facility will be tapping into local input supply chains to produce the famous Hendrix brand of concentrates and animal feed.

Job Title: QA / QC OFFICER

Job Purpose
To focus on ensuring quality control of incoming and produced goods in accordance with all internal and external quality standards, before any final product reaches the relevant markets Tunga serves.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Executes the control of all incoming raw materials and ingredients, by ensuring proper inspection (physical appraisal, labels check, sample check, documentation check and sample management), ensuring correct documentation, sample storage and management of samples for analysis, and proper barcoding, so that products are released to production that meet full regulatory compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Food Defense standards for manufactured products and feed ingredients
• Ensures compliance throughout the production process with the relevant procedures and standards, in accordance with the organization guidelines and ISO, UFAS, QS and other relevant guidelines, to ensure that the products meet the required quality with minimization of costs.
• Executes the control of all finished product samples, which includes collection, inspection and storage of all finished product samples.
• Manages storage, registration and handling of samples for analysis and Processes Finished Goods specifications into the appropriate systems to assure compliance to both Nutreco and customer expectations.
• Carries out routine audits to support Production and maintain governance to internal, ISO and customer standards. Feedback results and ensures follow up.
• Participates in internal and external (customer) audits and is actively involved in post-audit actions
• Carries out daily / weekly plant specific hygiene, pest control and other controls / audits
• Performs routine checks of Quality and Production documentation Skills & Experience
• Knowledge and understanding of quality standards/ guidelines like HACCP/Food safety, ISO, GMP+, VICH GL9 (GCP) and demonstrated compliant application of the quality standard requirements in practice
• Confident & competent with IT systems such as ERP and Microsoft Office applications
• Maximum of 4 years’ in Vocational Training
• Experience in Animal Feed Manufacturing is an added advantage

Job Title: QA / QC MANAGER

Job Purpose
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all internal Quality Assurance plans and programs necessary for the relevant markets Tunga serves and coordinates the implementation of the quality control policies in line with company guidelines, and with regulatory and industry standards, contributing to the realization of organizations’ goals and objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops, maintains and improves the quality control policies, HACCP, Food Safety/Food Defense and similar programs, in coordination with the manager(s) of production, supply chain and other relevant areas, according to the relevant internal and external global and local standards, to ensure an adequate quality control system by which the certificates are retained.
• Prepares improvements to the quality policy, tracks developments on quality and includes these in the policy, in accordance with internal and external standards and divisional / group QC policies.
• Drafts and ensures compliance with the procedures for the implementation of quality control of incoming and manufactured goods and in-process controls, in accordance with the organization guidelines and relevant standards and schemes. Similarly, in regard to the procedures for the processing of products that do not meet the specification, to ensure that the products meet the required quality with minimization of costs.
• Develops and manages Customer QC relationships and establishes, reviews, approves and documents Ingredient and Final Product specs into the appropriate systems to assure compliance to both Nutreco and customer expectations.
• Organizes and guides internal and external audits, according to the guidelines of quality systems, so that the quality procedures are complied with, with the aim of maintaining the quality certificates. Executes internal audits as well as external audits, in coordination and consultation with external auditors. Reports the outcome of audits to the relevant stakeholders, monitors any follow-up actions.

Skills & Experience
• Leadership experience in a laboratory or production environment, strong team building and organizational skills
• 4 years of experience in a similar role
• Knowledge and understanding of quality standards/guidelines like ISO, GMP+, VICH GL9 (GCP) and demonstrated compliant application of the quality standard requirements in practice
• Experience in leading organization through ISO, customer and other regulatory audits
• Knowledge and/or expertise of feed, food, veterinary and/or environmental legislation
• Knowledge of feed business
• Good oral and written communication skills in local language and English
