FHI 360 serves in more than 70 countries. FHI 360 is implementing the USAID Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (USAID MCHN) Activity, which supports the Government of Uganda to improve maternal, newborn, child health, and nutrition (MNCH) outcomes in both public and private sectors.


FHI 360 is seeking individuals to serve in the following positions for a short period of time, working with Ministry of Health teams to conduct an assessment (access, availability, utilization, and quality) of EmONC services:


Required qualifications and competencies:

  • The research assistant should have the following qualifications: MBChB; at least a diploma in Midwifery from a recognized institution with experience of 3 years in the public or private sector; OR at least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health with 3 years experience. MUST be computer literate, able to use the ODK tools, and has experience in similar studies and Knowledge of EmONC. Should be ready to stay in an area/district allocated for 30 days uninterrupted. Has demonstrated the capacity to effectively communicate in English both orally and in written form. Familiarity with Kampala's public and private health service provision/facilities is required. 
  • The Research coordinator should have MBChB OR at least a degree in Midwifery with experience of 3 years in the public or private sector. Must be computer literate, able to use the ODK tools, and has experience in similar studies and Knowledge of EmONC. Must have previous experience with supervision of quantitative and qualitative data collection on reproductive, maternal, and newborn health with a reputable research organization. A certificate in Research Ethics is desirable and post-graduate qualifications in health are an additional advantage.
