StrongMinds is a social enterprise committed to providing life-changing mental health services to underserved populations in Africa. Since 2013, StrongMinds has treated over 500,000 individuals through its WHO-recognized community-based Group Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-G) model.

 

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Research Associate/Coordinator to support an innovative Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) evaluating our IPT-G model. Based in Uganda, this role focuses on coordinating research activities between external researchers and internal teams.


This is a 4-month contract with the potential for extension, offering hands-on experience in groundbreaking mental health research.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research & Data
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to coordinate and implement research activities.
• Support recruitment, training, and supervision of the field team.
• Refine and pilot survey instruments to ensure effectiveness.
• Monitor and supervise data collection processes to maintain data quality.
• Conduct data quality checks and address any issues identified during
• Support data cleaning and preliminary analysis, ensuring easy access to data.
• Contribute to the development of critical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure all team members adhere to necessary protocols and procedures.


• Communication
• Maintain detailed documentation and ensure participant confidentiality.
• Prepare high-quality progress reports for leadership and research teams.
• Serve as the primary liaison among field staff, research teams, and investigators.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, economics, public policy, or related field.
• Proficiency in Stata and/or R, with strong statistical and data management skills.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.


• Preferred:
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience managing field staff in developing countries.
• Public health intervention experience.
