Job Title:  Welder
Duty Station:  Kampala
Number of Positions: 01
Contract Duration 3 Months (Fixed term)
Expected Start Date: 1st November 2025



SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing autonomously, specific complex / advanced installation, maintenance works and repairs depending on the instructions and MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF welding installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.

Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.

Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.

Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work.

Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.

Record the work done on the job card and timetables on a daily basis.

Work closely with other team members / specialized technicians and assist them to solve specific problems, which require experience like removing bolts, using welding, gas heating and body checking.

Adherence to MSF Principles and respect of the rules and regulations (SOPs) in the workshop at all times.

Any other relevant related tasks as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Diploma or recognized formal training in welding and metal fabrication craft two (2) certificate or coded welder from 4G to 5G.

Experience: Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area with minimum 1 year experience. Previous working experience with MSF or other INGOs is an asset.

Competences/ Skills: Results and Quality Oriented; Team Work; Flexibility; Mobility, Able to work with Multi-disciplinary and Multicultural People; Committed to MSF Principles.

Language: English and local languages
